I actually like the concept..b/c I can relate, and know MANY that didn't get that chance to go to the next level due to grades, legal problems, family matters, or just discipline. It gives someone that didn't have a chance, another opportunity.
I grew up in Waco. Everyone knows who Ladainian is. He's considered a future Hall of famer. I can attest, in highschool...when he was heralded, he wasn't the best player on his team until his Sr. year. He wasn't even the best RB in the city out of all the schools. His Jr. year, he played Fullback and Linebacker, b/c there were 3 tailbacks with way more talent and more effective than him. They were all in the same class as me...in 9-6. When they finished...all though talented, they didn't get a chance to go to top schols b/c of one of the aforementioned reasons of not going to the next level. The next year...Ladanian came back to an empty back field, switched from FB, to TB, didnt have anyone he had to share the backfield with...and set the city record of rushing yards in a season. The guy's record he broke...Louis Fite, is probably hands down the best RB I've seen come out of Waco...but didn't have the grades.
Quan Cosby of the Univ of Texas, who signed Free Agent with the Bengals a couple of weeks ago was another one. He was real good at QB...and set all types of records, and was highly touted, but his older brother was much better....but fell in the category of problems.
