| There's SO many functions and options for the '3 that many people don't know all of it's capabilities. The ‘3 is really an all-in-one media center and has many functions of a computer. It doesn't help that Sony doesn't have VIDEO tutorials either. Here's a guide to get you started on things you may have missed. I will be adding to this periodically: HDTV owners1. You NEED HDMI cablesHDMI cables are ESSENTIAL to display the highest possible HD resolutions and sound for all games, blu-rays and music. It also offers sound and video all in one cable and cuts down on clutter. DON’T get suckered into buying Monster cables and other expensive store bands, It’s a HUGE ripoff and these guys are eating royally off of consumers that don’t know any better. HMDI is a DIGITAL connection, NOT analog meaning that there is no difference between cables. As long as you have a 1.3 (or new 1.4) gold-tipped cables your good. There is NO functional difference in quality between a $200 Monster cable or a $25 cable off the net. However aesthetically and physically there is, the more expensive cables will hold up longer and do “look” better than the cheaper ones due to better casing. I personally recommend the Sony HDMI + USB bundle, a great price on a great looking, very study cable. And as a bonus you get a supped up gold-tipped USB 2.0 cable, which has the nicer, more durable casing as well and charges much faster than the normal silver tipped 1.0 cables you get with the controllers. Not to mention it’s way longer than the standard cable and may reach you couch to charge while playing. 2. Turn on Super-WhiteThis function will cut down on some over saturation issues and make the image sharper. This is located in Settings > Display Settings > Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White 3. Turn on RGB Full RangeThis function will also add sharpness and make colors more vibrant. It will also make image not so over bright. This is located in Settings > Display Settings > RGB Full Range 4. Make sure Cross Color Reduction Filter is onThis will help your TV separate colors better. This is located in Settings > Display Settings > Cross Color Reduction Filter PSP Owners1. You can use your PSP as a remote control for music during a party via remote play 2. You can play all PS1 games on your PSP Via Remote Play 3. You can play some disc games such as Lair on your PSP via remote play 4. You can play some downloaded games on your PSP Via Remote Play Non PC Owners1. You can use your PS3 to download PSP Games 2. You can install Linux on your PS3 3. You can use PS3 to charge anything the charges with a USB Cable. I plug my iPod and BlackBerry into it, I think there's more you can do with this, stay tuned. Buy from Amazon.comUnless your life depends on buying a certain game the day or morning it drops, then never buy from chain stores. Amazon always has the BEST sales on all tech (just about everything), including games, blu-ray’s, accessiores and such. If you order things on a regular basis like I do then you’ll save tons of money ordering online. Just sign-up for Amazon Prime ($79 annually) and you get unlimited free two-day shipping and $3.99 one-day shipping. | |

Where did you get them? I paid that for my Sony's, but those are Sony's and always a bit overpriced. But I personally will pay more for brands that I dig, like Sony, Apple and Blackberry. Now $70 is the absolute most your should pay, unless money is nothing and you can afford to get bent over by Monster.

I can't agree with you here. There's things that will factor the price of HDMI's. Of course name brand is going to dictate price. But also which type of HDMI's you want for performance as in speed, and also length. For instance...at the time I got my TV, I decided to go Monster. To me..if you're going out..you might was well go out and get the best quality. So I went monster cables. The size..which is by the meter, was a dfference in price also. 1 Meter was like $59 or $69...but due to how my set up is, along with the positioning of the input connections for the cable (on the far right side of my TV, while everything else was on the left), I had to get 2 meters, b/c 1 meter would have been too short. That was like either $89 or $99. I got one for my HD cable box, and one for my PS3. The price has gone down a lil since then though. ~Goodz~

The price has gone down a lil since then though. (sigh) This guy... Now it's nothing wrong with getting Monster, as long as it's not at those HIGHWAY ROBBERY retail prices. Length definitely does factor into price, so when I said more than $70, I was speaking of the normal length. I should have clarified that for the born skeptics. But your right, you will pay extra for the longer cables if need be. Now as I CLEARLY stated earlier as far as functionality, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MONSTER AND ANY OTHER GOLD-TIPPED, 1.3 (speed) HDMI CABLE ON THE MARKET. THE SOUND AND VISION IS IDENTICAL. IT’S A DIGITAL CONNECTION AND THERE IS NO DIFFRENCE BETWEEN BRANDS, MONSTER OVERSTATES IT’S TECHNOLOGY AND THEY GET PEOPLE. AND IT’S NOT JUST HDMI CABLE, ALL MONSTER PRODUCTS ARE SEVERYLY OVERPRICED. WERE NOT TALKING SONY AND APPLE MARKUPS, WERE TALKIKING DR. EVIL PRICES. Like I said, I paid more than I should’ve cause I wanted Sony, you paid for your Monsters. I respect that, but neither Sony or Monsters are any better than the no names you can get off the net. But for anyone else who JUST has $25 plus S&H, your good. Now the casing is obviously way better than the other brands and will handle wear and tear better, and they LOOK better. That's it.

Electronics is electronics. By your logic...a flat panel is a flat panel, and Symphonic and Insignia are on the same level as Samsung or Sharp Aquos. This is no different than wiring for home audio/video, or car audio/video. You pay for what you get. Ever heard of durability? Granted...you're paying for the brand, but it's not top of the line for nothing. I've sold retail audio/video years ago, and thought the same thing..." Ahhh...it's all the same...it doesn't matter." But from seeing all the complaints and returns, along with actually learning about those manufactures... Yes, it does. You get what you pay for. I never said you would not have good quality...or a bad picture, I said I choose to go Monster cables b/c I wanted relaibilty, durability, and proven name for performance. They excel in cables across the board. So with my mentality..when it comes to things like this...there can't be any corners cut. Kinda like how you got your logitech blue tooth headset, oppose to using the jabra one that comes with warhawk. ~Goodz~~Goodz~

| I totally agree and of course I've sold tech as well. But in this case with HDMI cables inparticular, there's not truly not much of a diff. Now with the older component, composite and s-video cable there was because they're all analog based. HDMI is digital and once u have it connected (with gold-tipped, 1.3) all the quality is the same. There's virtually is no difference at that point.
Take your average Chuck Schmuck buying an HDTV for the first time and he doesn't know the routine. All he knows is that the salesgeek is telling him he needs THESE cables to get the best possible picture and that Monster (or another store brand) is the best. He doesn't argue cause he just dropped $2K on a TV, $400 on the stand and $100 on a surge protector doesn't think twice about paying another $200 on cables. When for that price he could've gotten the cable, a game and a blu-ray off Amazon!

| LOL you guys not to go back to an old topic but LEE you weren't ripped off, tony's not taking into account that not everybodies got alotta variety that we on the coasts have, that also dictates pricing. however it basically boils down to what you can do at the time and what you ultimately wish to achieve, i knowing a little of the ps3's capabilities bought a tv perfectly suited for my ps3's needs. am actually getting ready to buy my son a 23 hdtv for his room and surprise him with the refurbed ps3 and get myself a new one for my b-day this fall. and hdmi cables aren't cheap however for the amount of information which they convey it's totally worth it....totally, dude. | |

| I have the eye...but I dont have enough lighting in my living room. It's like once I turn it on...it's too dark. I have to get a lamp or something or maybe one of those porno lights would be perfect. Another lil nuance of being a "brotha"...lol. IT was a gift when I got it though, from an EX awhile back.
